New features
We've been busy adding new features to FolioFlow over the last few months, here's a quick summary:
- Integration of google maps
- A complete rewrite of the diary pages.
- Faster page loads
- The ability to change the quality of images when uploading them
- A new text editor
Integration of google maps
Now on contact pages, it's possibile to search for an address, pinpoint an extact location, choose a zoom level and map type and choose to include a map on your contact page. The map in the administration system will reflect what your contact page will show. It's quick and it's simple.
A complete rewrite of the diary pages.
Right from the outset we'd not been 100% happy with the diary pages, the main issue was how slow it was to group select dates and mark them as available or unavailable. We've now sorted that out, and with two or three clicks, you can mark, days, weeks months or even years.
We then went on to add a catagory of 'unknown'. So if you only maintain a calendar of availability for 12 months, you might not want to show months 13-24 as available, or unavailable. Or you might have odd days we're you cannot confirm if you are going to be available or not. These are ideal for the new category of 'unknown'
Finally, you can also mark 1/2 days for availability too.
Faster page loads
We've managed to rework some of our web page generation process to optimise it further. The actual page generation has now been cut by over 50%.
The ability to change the quality of images when uploading them
A feature that we've had some requests for in the early days was to make the image quality lower to increase download speeds. We did that by reducing the quality down from 100% to 70% which for pretty much all images, there's no noticable difference, but a substatial gain in speed of downloading.
We've now taken that one step further, and you can choose the quality level with every image you upload. You can change from 10% quality (yuk) to 100%. Images with text in can really benefit from a quality setting higher than 70%, so you've now got full control over the speed/quality ratio.
A new text editor
Today we've implemented a new text editor. We've always been fond of the old one, but there were just too many occasions of buggy issues cropping up. We've re-evaluated the market since our initial investigations and are now using a new editor that's more flexible and less bug prone. Let us know what you think of it.
What's next?

FolioFlow We are always looking to add new features to FolioFlow and we have a really long list of ideas that we'd love to work on, but we also want to hear from you, what would you like to see from FolioFlow next? |

Yellowstone design coming soon
|
FolioFlow We are pleased to let you know of a new design that will be getting launched on FolioFlow. It goes by the name of Yellowstone. The name is in keeping with all the designs being named after rivers from across the world. The initial concept designs have been drawn up and developed by goinnovate.co.uk. We will then be taking the designs and setting them up in the FolioFlow system for you to be able to try them out. Keep checking back to see when the design becomes available. We have also commissioned another, as yet unnamed design, that's also in the works. We'll be sure to blog on it once it arrives. |

FolioFlow website launch
|
FolioFlow We are excited to launch the folio flow website. We've been hard at work over the last couple of years getting to this point, so it's a great relief to finally be up and running. Don't think we will be resting on our laurels though, we've already got a list as long as our arm of new features and improvements we are itching to start working on. We would also love to hear from you on what you like and dislike about the site and the services on offer. If there's a feature you would like adding then let us know. Over the next few months we would like to try and provide links to sites that will be helpful resources on getting the best out of your website. For example SEO (search engine optimistation), free textures, and good places to obtain stock images. We'll also be providing a series of tutorials on how to get up and running with custom templates teaching you the basics of a completely custom design. |
